Charaustra has grown to very large proportions for a Clarus Dragon; she is even slightly taller than her bondmate, Jason. She is a Glass dragon, and so her entire body shimmers and reflects like liquefied crystal. Her eyes are deep lavender, but when she is angry and preparing to fight, they seem to flash with crackles of blue lightning. Her muzzle is round and soft, unless she is angry, and her ears are small, slightly longer than those of a cat. She has a set of powerful hind legs, like a kangaroo, which end in paws with sharp talons. Her tail is mainly used for balance when jumping, but she can swish it as a warning as well. When in battle, she is usually surrounded by a blue glow, the static electricity that builds for her lightning attacks.
Charaustra has two distinct personalities. Normally, she is calm and collected, a picture of feline grace. She can also be a bit manipulative and secretive, although this only emerges when she thinks something is in Jason's best interest. If she is doing anything to manipulate a situation, you are not apt to realize it. She has a sense of humor that causes her to delight in the satirical or absurd. She enjoys getting down to business, and to her, there's nothing more satisfying than getting a job done. She naturally loves battling, but she isn't overly aggressive, unless in protection of Jason or her friends. Her second side emerges when she loses her temper. Glass dragons are notorious for their short and fragile temperaments, and Charaustra is no exception. Jason often has to control her, and without his stabilizing presence, she can get out of hand. When angry or aggressive, she will strike first, and ask questions later. As long as you do nothing to get her mad, however, Charaustra is perfectly lovely to be around, and she easily makes friends and admirers.
Charaustra's egg was seized from a smuggler in the marketplace of the Autolycus-Beta Star Station, which orbited Gyrent-12 in the dimension that Jason found himself in after being transported from his original home. Jason was there when the head of security, Lieutenant Genhyl Gp'tal, discovered her and brought her to the medical bay. Charaustra, confused and afraid, immediately found Jason's company calming and was intrigued by his complexity and almost worshipful view of her. Jason had never seen a real dragon egg before, and he was in awe of Charaustra. The two ended up bonding, and from there, Charaustra's path in life was set.
She developed a deep connection with Jason quickly, and when she learned of a terrible problem on L'mdana through him, she demanded that they help. She hatched a Glass, which surprised everyone on the station, including Jason, although he later understood why he had effected such a coloration. She and Jason then traveled to L'mdana, and on the voyage there, she grew gradually into her adolescent form and began showing signs of talent in the magic of electricity, Biribiri. Once on L'mdana, she and Jason were charged with a dangerous mission, vital to the religious community there.
During the mission, she and Jason became closer, but also developed friction, since her bad temper was quickly aroused by his brushes with death. They completed the mission successfully, however, and they were rewarded by the gods of L'mdana. After spending a short time on L'mdana and the space station, she and Jason began traveling between dimensions using their phasing amulet. They have completed many more quests and missions in the years since, fighting against evil and injustice and trying to keep the universe and all its dimensions in balance.
Charaustra cares for Jason over anyone else, but they occasionally have bouts of friction due to her flaring temper. She watches Jason like a mother hawk, and anything that threatens him is apt to find itself facing one angry Glass ball of electricity. Her love of missions and battles has occasionally gotten the pair into trouble, but she is a formidable force, and with Jason, she usually comes out on top. Rarely, when Jason has to step in to control her temper, she will snap at him or show signs of aggression, but luckily, these occurrences are few and far between. Her connection with Jason is unnaturally strong, and any pain or emotions are shared between them. Jason is physically the weaker, so his health is often bad under stressful times, which consistently leads Char to worry about him.
The Vis Astrum
Char's Coming of Age Gift was The Vis Astrum, a faceted blue starburst crystal. It allows her to control her electricity magic and direct it into attacks. When it is activated by Charaustra, it goes cold and becomes surrounded by a faint static field. Jason usually carries the Vis Astrum inside his robe, since it would be awkward for Charaustra to carry it.
First Place Trophy
Charaustra won this trophy in the Veniam Mactare Autumn Festival of 2005. She won first place in the Clarus Battles, placing over opponents Theach and Nexia. She was awarded this gold trophy for her efforts.
Crystal Lotus Blossom Music Box
This magical crystal box plays soothing, Zen music, mostly Japanese koto and shakuhachi flute. Char uses this music to aid her meditation sessions.

Charaustra's egg was colored in beautiful, shining swirls of all colors, as all female Clarus Dragon eggs are. In this form, she first met and contacted Jason.

Size: 1' 11" long, head about 7" high when sitting normally, body about 4" in diameter
As a hatchling, Charaustra was revealed to be of the Glass coloration. This coloration, though beautiful as liquid crystal, has a reputation for being ill-tempered and hard to control. Jason, however, loved Char from the start.
Stage: Adolescent
Size: 2' 9" long from nose to tail tip, height about 1' 5" at shoulder
As Charaustra grew, she developed beautiful feathered wings and a pair of hind legs. Jason suspected her to be a hybrid between the Serpent and Kangaroo types of Clarus Dragon. Charaustra, during this time, was more stable than when she first hatched; however, she still had quite a temper.

Size: 6' 3" long from nose to tail tip, height about 3' 1" at shoulder
When Charaustra first became an adult, she was much shorter than her bondmate, Jason. She still made an imposing enemy, and she was quick to anger whenever Jason was threatened. With time, she would gain more self control, but she had several large fights with her bondmate when she was still a young adult.
